A new chapter in Oxfordshire country living — a historic estate reimagined for work, creativity, celebration and simply enjoying life.

Oxfordshire Farm

Oxfordshire

Set within rolling countryside, Upper Farm marks a move from London to a more relaxed, sociable way of living. Bought as a long-term family investment, the estate has been transformed into a place for weekends, entertaining, creativity and time together.

At its heart, the substantial stone farmhouse has been carefully restored and reorganised, creating generous, connected spaces that open onto the gardens and wider landscape.

Contemporary interventions bring light and movement to the historic fabric while respecting its character.

Beyond the house, work, make, play and gather became the guiding principles.

Rather than introducing a host of new buildings, the existing outbuildings have been given new lives: a stone-pillared store becomes a home office and studio; a barn loft an artist’s workspace; and a former agricultural building a dedicated party and entertaining space.

With adult children and a more independent family life, the brief was deliberately playful, creating a backdrop for living well, from long lunches and spontaneous gatherings to creative pursuits and weekends without much of a plan.

A striking new pool house sits within the wider landscape, combining contemporary architecture with the estate’s stone and timber palette.

Its glazed elevation looks towards distant ponds, while a continuous rooflight brings daylight deep into the pool hall beneath a distinctive timber-clad pyramidal roof.

The result is less a collection of buildings than a way of life – more space, more freedom and more reasons to gather, with spaces designed to evoke a feeling of ease, escapism and pleasure.
