A contemporary family home formed as a series of pitched volumes, carefully arranged across a Cheshire hillside to frame courtyards, landscape and long-reaching views.

Designed for a young family, the brief was to create a contemporary home that balanced open, flexible living with spaces for retreat, responding to the changing needs of family life.

Positioned on a sloping site overlooking the Cheshire countryside, the ambition was to create a house that felt deeply connected to its landscape while remaining grounded in the language of rural architecture.

The site’s topography presented both opportunity and constraint. The steeply sloping hillside demanded a carefully considered response that would minimise the visual impact of the building while capturing expansive views across the surrounding countryside. The arrangement of the house was shaped by the landscape itself, allowing the architecture to step naturally with the land.
